Rent a villa in Ibiza and enjoy its gastronomy

When you decide to spend a few days in Ibiza and rent a villa to manage your time better, you are probably looking to discover the island in depth. It is known that the most important thing when you visit a place is tasting its typical dishes and drinks - that is, to know its gastronomy.

Typical dishes

The cuisine of Ibiza has a rich variety of recipes handed down from generation to generation. It all emerged from the mixture of cultures that passed through the island along its history. Seafood, olive oils, wines, herbal liqueurs, cheeses, sausages, jams and honey are just the beginning of a long list of delicious ingredients characteristic of Ibizan dishes. The key is simple: first class products. That´s why even when there are many restaurants where you can taste them, nothing is comparable to homemade, traditional and absent intrusive products that are so fashionable today. Here we show you some of the typical dishes that you can enjoy if you have rented a villa in Ibiza this summer.

  • Borrida de Rajada: Traditional dish prepared with stripe, potatoes, eggs, parsley, garlic, fried bread, toasted almonds, saffron and olive oil.

  • Sofrit pagès: Dish typical of the interior of the island prepared with lamb, chicken, sobrasada, potatoes, garlic, bay leaf, saffron, cumin, parsley, toasted almonds and lard.

  • Tonyina a l´eivissenca: Stewed tuna with pine nuts, raisins, eggs, spices, lemon juice and dry white wine.

  • Guisat de peix: Potato stew with fish and seafood.

  • Peix sec: Fish seasoned and dried in the sun.

  • Bull d´anfós: Typical dish prepared from the gills, stomach and liver of grouper.

  • Ibicenca lobster: Lobster stewed with squid and herbal liqueur.

  • Rice slaughtered: Rice prepared with different parts of the pig.

  • Greixonera de brossat: Pudding prepared with cottage cheese, eggs and cookies.

  • Flaó: Cake prepared with eggs and cheese.

  • Orelletes: Sweet made with eggs, flour, anise liqueur, sugar and olive oil.

  • Hierbas Ibicencas: Alcoholic beverage prepared with anise.

Better areas to eat

If you are in your rented villa in Ibiza thinking where to go for lunch or dinner, we assure you every corner of the island has many places where you can eat well and with prices adjusted to all kinds of pockets. One of the busiest areas for dining are the terraces of the Port of Ibiza, although there are also pleasant and quieter places in some little villages in the interior. You can choose which one is best for you from your rented house in Ibiza.

Many of the beaches and coves of the island have restaurants and beach bars where it is a pleasure to taste delicious typical dishes while enjoying a picture postcard landscape. Perhaps its gastronomy is its less recognized virtue, but we have to say that it is exceptional. It awakens all the senses and deserves to be mentioned because, like all over our country, it unites tradition, idiosyncrasy and personality of a region. If you are thinking of renting a house or a villa in Ibiza this summer, be sure to take a walk and find the best place to delight with its typical meals. We are sure you won´t regret! Bon profit!
